The fridge-note problem
Sticky notes get missed. Group texts bury the important line under “we’re leaving now.” And every new sitter starts from zero, so you re-explain the same night again.
A good handoff is one place, complete enough that they don’t need you — and easy enough that you’ll actually keep it updated.
Babysitter instructions checklist
Use this before you walk out the door:
Bedtime
- Target bedtime and wake window
- Bath / pajamas / books / white noise
- What to do if they won’t settle
Meals and snacks
- What’s okay to eat (and what’s not)
- Allergies and severity
- Where food lives; any prep notes
Health and safety
- Medications and timing
- Where the EpiPen / first aid kit is
- Emergency contacts (you, co-parent, neighbor, pediatrician)
House rules
- Screens: what’s allowed and for how long
- Doors, alarms, pets
- Visitors / sleepovers / leaving the house
Comfort and quirks
- Loveys, night lights, “the weird thing that actually works”
- Where spare clothes / diapers / wipes are
Logistics
- When you’ll be back
- How to reach you
- Spare key / neighbor backup
If you only do three things: allergies, bedtime, and how to reach you.
A calmer way to share it
Writing all of that by hand is why people skip it. With SitterScript, you talk once — a voice brain-dump — and it organizes care instructions you can share as a private link. Sitters open it in a browser. No app for them. No account for them.
You can mark must-know instructions as critical so they surface first in the sitter walkthrough, set how long the link lasts, and deactivate it when the night’s over.
Free to try
SitterScript is free on the App Store. Built by Braindump LLC for busy parents who want fewer frantic questions.
